Leandra planned a big
night out for Dylan's birthday (Dylan & Leandra being our
current kindly hosts). This is no big surprise to anyone
who knows Leandra - big night planner extraordinaire. We
started out with dinner at Suppenkuche, where Caroline was quite
skeptical she could find any German cuisine that she actually
liked. It turned out to be the best food we had in San
Francisco - they make a mean spatzel and grill a nice pig!
We followed up dinner by heading over to our private karaoke
room at Do Re Me over in Japantown. Dylan performed a
rollicking version of Sweet Child o' Mine, Caroline sang
more than Scott's ever heard her sing in his life, and the whole
group put on a rousing performance of Don't Stop Believing
that would have made Journey quite proud. Leandra stole
the show, of course, with her various renditions of Celine's
Heart Must Go On (Leandra - ignore those people throwing
things at you - they're just jealous Dion haytas), although
Ted's spoken word version of Kiss was quite a hit.
We also got to
experience our first police raid at a karaoke club. It's
not a bar, just private karaoke rooms, so people bring their own
bottled singing encouragement along. This is apparently
illegal, and one of the kids running the place that night ran in
to help us scoop all the beer and wine into a garbage bag so he
could dispose of it. Somehow, we never saw our booze
again, and we were sad. Back to the MacDonalds for frozen
pizza and some more stage time for Caroline, so she could get
some of the Afternoon Delight out of her system.
Thanks to the MacDonalds for planning yet another fun night out. |
