After our 9 hour journey to Puerto Vallarta last Sunday, we checked back into the Brisas del Mar condo two doors down from our place, where we could closely monitor work on the condo. The terrace is finished now... it's huge, but looks just like we expected (great to get no surprises there). But the rest of the place looks just as we left it over 2 months ago. Monday we spoke (in English!) with a contractor who's doing some work on other places around the building, and he was able to get us a quote by Monday evening. We quickly hired him to start the work, which he estimated would take 4 weeks or so. Since the first week or two of work would only be cleaning up the current mess and finishing some cement and tilework that is 90% complete, we didn't feel like we'd need to do much supervision. We figured, why be in the hellish heat of PV in September during that time (paying rent, at that) when we've got our San Miguel place! So Wednesday we drove BACK to San Miguel, where we hope to spend 10 days or so, until we feel like we need to go back and work more closely with our contractor. Although Caroline is under the weather with some sinus issues, we're happy to be gone from PV, and happy to be back in SMA. |
