Leaving Ellemford at 10am, we arrived in Saifores at 10pm, after
a country drive, train to Glasgow then Prestwick, Scotland,
flight to Reus, and a lift from our generous hosts from the
airport to their home. And what a home it is! The work
that went into this 700-year-old ruin, located in a lovely
Spanish wine region, to turn it into such a luxurious Spanish
home is even more amazing to see in person than it was in all of
the photos we had seen. With at least four lovely patio
spaces on which to sit out on at different times of the day,
it's easy enough to see how you could just hang out enjoying
this perfect Spanish weather forever. But alas, life can't
be all fun and games; we've kept ourselves busy with things to
do! Like daily trips to the nearby beach (where the
Mediterranean Sea has reached an ideal summer temperature),
walking through small Catalonian cities and villages, and going
out to D&L's favorite winery/restaurant for a long, leisurely
'menu del dia' lunch. Even with such a full agenda, we have been
able spend plenty of time enjoying the home, wine, and company
of our hosts and friends. In spite of their hospitality,
Caroline decided to show no mercy with them last night during
what they thought was a friendly evening of Texas Hold 'Em...a
game that Caroline claims to have never played before.
I think they want revenge. Tomorrow they'll be dropping us at
the train station so we can take the hour-long ride into
Barcelona to have a look around. Too much to see for one
day, we know, but we're looking forward to getting a taste of
Spain's world-famous 'top-modern' city. |
